Okay, you were excited to get going and you banged out, I don’t know, say 20 pages.
Now you got this pang of panic. Most of your ideas are already on paper except for your super exciting climax and wrap up. That’ll give you, maybe 31 pages.
You feel silly. You feel defeated and stupid for even trying this.
I’m an idiot.
I can’t figure out what to do.
It’ll be too hard to restructure this.
I can’t stand the uncertainty of not knowing exactly what to do at all times.
You need to tell yourself:
I’m not an idiot. I may not be a superstar or even talented. I’m just someone writing a book.
You can write the book and make the plot make sense. It may awhile, it may be difficult and it may be uncomfortable. It will happen if you write. it won’t happen if you merely think about it and whine.
Nothing is TOO hard. Things have varying degrees of discomfort which each person chooses or doesn’t choose to deal with.
Humans crave guarantees. There is no guarantee that’ll you’ll write a decent book and certainly not a guarantee that you’ll write a good book.Do this because you have a passion to do this and its fulfilling not because you’re good at it.
There it is. Read what NaNoWriMo tells you what to do when you get stuck but underscore it with a little emotional self-examination.
Okay? Good. Ass on chair, fingers on keyboard. Type.
