More songs that ought to be on every jukebox…
For the other jukebox post go here: http://tomschreck.wordpress.com/2010/01/15/friday-happy-hour-the-jukebox/
The Girls All Get Prettier at Closing Time Mickey Gilley
Werewolves of London Warren Zevon
Night Moves Bob Seger
Walk Don’t Run The Ventures
Great Balls of Fire Jerry Lee Lewis
Stairway to Heaven Led Zeppelin
White Christmas Bing Crosby
Hound Dog Elvis Presley
Johnny B Goode Chuck Berry
Ballad of the Green Berets Barry Sadler
The Unicorn Song The Irish Rovers
Jungleland Bruce Springsten
Teenage Wastleland The Who
Love The Unicorn Song.
Was Willie’s version of ‘Always On My Mind’ on the last list?
no…but should be considered…
Only one Elvis song?
a shame, I know…
I think this jukebox is in need of some Roy Orbison. And wasn’t “White Christmas” on the last list? Really? We need two copies in the box?
To add a little gender variation, I think Jo Dee Massina’s “My Give A Damn’s Busted” would be a good addition. And maybe Reba McEntire’s “Fancy” or “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.”
Roy…can stay…Pretty Woman needs a spot….
The Night the Light’s Went out, definitely…
The others, hmmm, I’ll need some covincing.
Stairway to Heaven NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Add these and you’re all set:
Dancin’ in the Moonlight – Thin Lizzy
The Zoo – Scorpions
Badlands – Bruce Springsteen
Stone in Love – Journey
Always, always wrap it up with some sort of tune everyone knows but NEVER Piano Man or anything by Elton John that is played on the radio. You have to play something like Motown or Stevie Wonder, they get everyone in the mood to keep drinking for another hour.
Almost included Badlands…
Dancin’ In the Moonlight is by King Harvest but an excellent choice.
I hate Stairway but I think it has to be there, no?
Thanks.
Now I have The bloody Zoo in my head.
Per Wikipedia, an always trustworthy site:
“Thin Lizzy’s 1977 UK single release – “Dancin’ In The Moonlight (It’s Caught Me In Its Spotlight)” should not be confused with the King Harvest song, as it is a completely different track.”
I had no idea.
Prince – Erotic City
I’d go Little Red Corvette, myself…
Forgive me…I’ve been on a Country kick lately, so…
You Don’t Have To Go Home by Gretchen Wilson which brings us to
Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson
Beer is Great, God is Good, and People Are Crazy by somebody
Billy Currington.
Thanks, Jen!
